Return of the Commodore as a Philosopher and Golfer !

Now,I am a much improved version of myself, since I blogged last in 2012 ! Ha ! Ha ! I am beginning to understand what it takes to be a disciple of wisdom ! Secondly, I know what club gets you what distance on the par 5 hole. I even know how not to slice or draw the golf ball! After having joined the " New Acropolis " , I have developed an inclination towards philosophy and can somewhat identify my " Kauravaas " from my " Pandavas "! I have also made steady gains on the golf course , bringing myself to break 100, more often than not ! I hope I can get similar success with my blogging too ! Cheers, in the meanwhile ! Enjoy life, it is all you got for now !

Hello, here I am again, annual visit ! This time I am blogging from my iPad, via my Linked in profile which has links to my blog site and twitter account! Some sort of convergence I guess ! I feel this will help me blog more, in fact I can make it more than once a year ! Ha! Ha! I must have some sort of record that mine is a blog site which is never read by anyone, including me ! Let me tell you that, what I write will be useful for new bloggers for sure, because each time I blog, it is as if I am blogging for the first time- since I do it only once a year ! Ha! Ha! Have a good laugh folks ! Laughing comes second only to meditation, in helping you lead a happy existence ! Cheers! The Commodore who rambles.

Blogging again !

Well, annual visit to my blog site, so that I can tell myself that I do blog, even though I may have been long lost to these pages.

World economy is in the dumps but it is not a recession, or a double dip recession as they say ! India is kind of unaffected, because our people , at least the vast majority of them, have always been in this state of economic uncertainty - it is nothing new for an average Indian. The sellers in the affluent parts of the world are labeling as emerging market and what not, to sell us their corn, cheese, coke and now some wine ! Our rural brothers and sisters are making actual footballs in those glitzy super malls, to stare at the pictures/ busts of sharrukh khan and bi ashy Basu and to buy the fancy label dress that the dummy is wearing !

But of course we buy our color mobile phones, because you can watch hindi movie song videos and talk at the worlds cheapest voice rates! We will survive the recession etc. Because that is what we are good at "Survive" !

i had forgotten that i had this blog spot ! well the last blog was in May 09 !

maybe it is due to the micro blogs available to me now via twitter or facebook?

well i can go back to my ole ways of writing limericks or something, instead of rambling on un interesting ideas which no one has yet read or commented:

Hapy with my ipod

at first i thought the 8gb ipod which ankit gave me was just another music device, like the ole walkman. but now i have realised the value of this thingy. i enjoy reading comic boooks i have down loaded, quickly accessing my entire photo album, to show off to any one interested, watch you tube, whenevr, i am in Wi-Fi zone, access facebook, which i cannot do on my office comp- coz it is blocked and of course, access my 4 email accounts, all at the same time, besides reading news updates, check on weather at london ( Pri lives there), tokyo( anki lives there) and mumbai !
So thanks pple, thanks anki !
I may even venture into buying an apple mac book at this rate, or look for "Kindle" like thing from apple !

Disaster Management drill

We had a disaster management drill in our office building today. Attendance was poor & only improved when people were forced to attend !Isn't it a shame that we have no concern for our own safety- do we really consider & beleive that no disaster will strike us ever? what with natural calamities occuring at all times & all over the world & terrorists finding newer ways to engage the common people, basic knowledge of disaster mangement should be made compulsary at all levels, right from primary schools till universities, institutions & homes.
I wonder if high rise buildings in Mumbai & Delhi, ever conduct Disaster mangement drills. Society Managements should be made responsible, as part of their charter. Severe penalties need to be levied for non compliances. Any other place where public gather in large numbers need to be scrutinised for safe evacuation passage & procedure & implemented by authorities vested with managing or governing that particular place.

earth institute

Commendable work is being done at Columbia Univ. for our earth by the group called The Earth Institute.To make it sustainable & extend it's use for us humans for eons to come is their aim, as I can see. I am interested in contributing to this effort. i made a beginning by putting myself on their mailing list. Let'ssee what happens as we go along.
